Fun game and it teaches you manners

This classic game hasn’t lost an ounce of it’s fun over the years.  Sorry, the wonderful game of knocking your opponents pieces back to the start should be a staple in any board game library.   And really, who doesn’t like the sound of the bubble dice roller in the center of the board.

And just when you think this game couldn’t get any better, their original commercials are so funny, I would buy the game for them alone.

Power Grid… Possible game of the year?!?

I don’t what it is about about German style games but I am in love with them.  Power Grid is the newest one that I have heard of and there is rumor that it might be up for Game of the year.

This game keep my family satisfied through our entire New Year holiday.   The greatest thing about German style games.  The rules are pretty simplistic but the strategy really falls under your style of play and taking advantage of your friends playing along with you.  Get this game… you will enjoy it!

Cosmic Fun in a little box

It is funny when you turn on your ally from the last few turns and destroy them.  Don’t worry you can blame it on the destiny card, that’s what I do.   Cosmic Encounters is a game you don’t want to stop playing.   Trust me, last night my friends and I played 5 times and enjoyed it every time.

The greatest thing is that this game changes each time you play it.  With each of the character’s unique powers and the addition of artifact cards, you are in a constant change of tactics that makes each turn new and exciting.

Curses, the great party game ever!!!

Imagine one of your closest friends, trying to tell you the best way to make a sandwich while doing it with an Irish accent!   No moments like this don’t happen everyday, so you need to take advantage of this when you get the chance.

There are many other unique curses that this game unleashes and each one more fun then the first.   My friends and I have played this so many times and it never gets old.   It is still our first choice for big group games and should be yours as well.

Building up your collection

Well, it’s that time of year again, time for Thanksgiving and Black Friday, the two busiest days of my life. One day I spent cooking and eating the greatest food on Earth, then I have a midday nap and I get ready to stand out in the cold so that I can get amazing shopping deals.  I am definitely, thinking more about myself then others in this fine season.  This year, I am heading to the board game aisle and taking care of me.

I have figure out a way to even get more off on my Black Friday sales.  My master plan this year is to get gift certificates that at a discount on sites like citydeals or others and then use them for payment on my items.  This is what I call a double bonus, a genius move on my part!

Who’s Hungry For Hungry Hungry Hippos

One of my most favorite board games will ALWAYS be  Hungry Hungry Hippos.  This was my favorite game as a child.  The object of this game is to have your hippo eat the most marbles. I always wanted to be the pink hippo.

Popular shows become popular board games, go figure

Just what you always wanted, now you can live out your “Lost” or “Desperate Housewives” fantasy on a board game.   But the weird thing about all this is that the board games are fun and interesting.   Board games creators are trying to pull new business and in my opinion aren’t doing a bad job with it.

TV Shows And Board Games

It can be safely said that television plays a very large role in culture today. It is extremely rare to find someone who doesn’t pay attention to the programming on the networks today. This attention starts to bleed out into other forms of entertainment available to the public and this includes the world of board games. Popular television shows are beginning to find some life in the gaming industry and this is a fact that is unlikely to change anytime soon. Fans are becoming more and more outspoken about exactly what they like and when options are available to them to continue to enjoy their interests, especially in the world of board games, they will take them.

A number of popular television shows have been given a platform with board games in the form of trivia. Grey’s Anatomy, Sex and the City, I Love Lucy, and Desperate Housewives are just a few of the shows which have been given this trivia game treatment. With these board games, players often compete with each other in questions about the show’s storyline, the actors in the show, and production behind it. Fans who know the most, usually with some lucky throws of the dice, find themselves as the winner of the game. These games feature a simple board that players race around, landing on different spaces that usually denote the type of question that needs to be answered to progress. Trivia games based on popular television shows are usually popular with the fans because not only does it allow them to prove their status as super fans, but to usually learn something new about the show that they did not realize before.

Trivia games aren’t the only representation that television shows have in the board game world, however. Different shows are adaptable to different types of games, such as reality television. Some of these reality game shows have been adapted into board games, with Survivor, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race being some of the most popular ones. With Survivor, players race around the board for Immunity by solving different puzzles or trivia questions about survival skills. The first player to reach the end of the board wins the round and Immunity for that turn. Players will then vote one member of the game out of the running and onto the jury. Players who have previously been voted out return at the end of the game to determine the winner between the final two players, much like the show. The Amazing Race board game utilizes a DVD which allows players to experience some of the different cultures of the world while racing through the board, giving it an edge that other board games usually do not provide.

Lost gives its fans a strategy board game that changes each time it is played. By laying different tiles across the playing field, the board is built randomly each game and “the island” is never quite the same twice. It allows players to have a variety of different characters from the show and the novelty of this can last quite a while. Television can be a very creative outlet for storytelling and adventure and when these quality cross over into the board games representing the shows, quality entertainment can be enjoyed by all.
